Why I am running for Idaho House District 17
I am running because I am an everyday Idahoan, born and raised right here. My whole family lives, owns businesses, recreates and gathers here. I teach and own a house in West Boise. I love this state and am ready to get to work, giving back to the place and people that have given so much to me.
I love and care about people. As a middle school teacher, I am well versed in leading, meeting people where they are, inspiring self-advocacy, and encouraging everyone to find their voice. My training as a theatre artist has taught me to care about the stories of others, to find a way to relate no matter how different we may be, and present those stories as though they are my own. This is the work of a Legislator.
Issues that Natalie is focusing on in District 17
Education
- The education of today’s youth builds tomorrow’s future – its parents, its workforce, its entrepreneurs, etc.
- Revisit outdated fiscal policies and adequately fund education without property taxpayer bonds and levies
- Fully staff our public schools by offering competitive compensation in the free market
Housing / Economy
- Make Idaho more liveable through affordable housing and living wages.
- Create growth opportunities for Idaho businesses to compete in the global economy.
- Increase the homeowners tax exemption as property values increase to relieve taxpayers
