Values

Why I am running for the Idaho House of Representatives in District 17

I am running because I am an everyday Idahoan, born and raised right here. My whole family lives, owns businesses, recreates and gathers here. I teach and own a house in West Boise. I love this state and am ready to get to work, giving back to the place and people that have given so much to me.

I love and care about people. As a middle school teacher, I am well versed in leading, meeting people where they are, inspiring self-advocacy, and encouraging everyone to find their voice. My training as a theatre artist has taught me to care about the stories of others, to find a way to relate no matter how different we may be, and present those stories as though they are my own. This is the work of a Legislator.

Education

Fully fund our children’s schools and offer competitive teacher compensation in the free market
  • The education of today’s youth builds tomorrow’s future – its parents, its workforce, its entrepreneurs, etc
  • Revisit outdated fiscal policies and adequately fund education without property taxpayer bonds and levies

I believe that the education of today’s youth builds tomorrow’s workforce, families, entrepreneurs, etc. I believe that every Idahoan is guaranteed the right to a quality education regardless of their income or geographic location and public education ought to be the highest priority. A well educated public is beneficial in every way.

Housing / Economy

Make Idaho more liveable through affordable housing and living wages
  • Create growth opportunities for Idaho businesses to compete in the global economy
  • Increase the homeowners tax exemption as property values increase to relieve taxpayers

I believe that businesses are made of people. We need to take care of the people who run our local and small businesses. We need to make owning a home and renting affordable and increase homeowners tax exemption as property values rise.

Infrastructure / Transportation / Development

Drive transportation improvements that keep up with growth and cut traffic
  • Ensure that growth is supporting growth through developer impact fees
  • Implement high speed broadband to support our communities

I believe that easy and effective transportation in sprawling communities like ours is crucial to the quality of life for Idahoans. Time and money are saved with better roadways and congestion mitigation. I believe that apartments should not be opened without sidewalks for children to safely play on and that housing developments should not be built without schools close-by for children to learn in. Implementing developer impact fees would relieve the taxpayer burden and improve our communities.

Dry Wells

I’ve heard you at the doors and Dry Well meetings, your concerns are my concerns.

Here are some Dry Well resources. This is a statewide issue, that’s hitting older homes here. I will be a voice for us with the State Water Authority and in the legislature as an advocate for ensuring water is a part of our infrastructure planning.
